Situated in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, Hamilton Island is one of 74 islands
in the Whitsundays. It lies just off the Queensland Coast, about half way between
Cairns and Brisbane. You can fly directly from most capital cities or catch a boat
(private or chartered) into the welcoming marina. Hamilton Island is the largest
inhabited island in the Whitsundays.
In addition to its superb location, Hamilton Island offers and incredible holiday
experience. It’s a combination of superb weather; access to the Great Barrier Reef
and native Australian wildlife, fauna and flora; brilliant beaches; unique dining
experiences and a wide range of activities that make Hamilton the perfect holiday
destination.
Hamilton Island is in a tropical climate zone with an average temperature of 27.4’
Celsius. The summer months of December through to February see temperatures averaging
around 30’C whilst the maximum temperature in the winter months of June through
to August around 23’C.
Recent developments on the island have reinstated Hamilton as a destination not
to be missed. The newly opened Hamilton Island Golf Club, set on the majestic Dent
Island is for those who love golf, or even want to try it for the first time. The
golf course is suitable for all levels of experience. The architecturally magnificent
Hamilton Island Yacht Club is another new addition to the island that offers dining,
